A powerful mission The glory of the Spanish missions that lined the California coast did not rest in the distinctive structures themselves. Welcoming hands and hearts made these buildings harbors of hope and healing. Likewise, the true value of our camps and conferences lies not in scenic surroundings and impressive facilities but in life-changing environments nurtured by caring staff and innovative programs. As we gathered near the home of the first historic Spanish sanctuary, we refocused and revitalized our own missions—critical to members of today’s society who desperately need to experience the message of Jesus Christ.
